I really hate being so extremely, overly exhausted that just the thought of having to retype my post can be so overwhelming. And I type for a living! :)

Anyhow, I went to see an endocronologist a short time later. This is probably around late May/early June this year. He did a pretty basic exam of feeling my thyroid – stating it was about 50% enlarged – and having me hold my hands out in front of me and testing my reflexes and such. He said that it did look like Graves’, but he wanted to be sure before we did anything permanent to my thyroid (i.e. RAI). He put me on a small (5mg) dose of Tapazol and said that that would help determine whether it was Graves’ or thyroiditis causing my hyperthyroid levels when he did some more thorough testing in a couple months. I’m feeling so poorly at this point that I was just trying to make it to that next appointment to start the next step in my treatment. I know that treatment takes time, but I figured as long as I was making progress towards the next step, I would be ok.

The next appointment came and went. The bloodwork was drawn (I don’t remember what the tests were exactly, but it was supposed to be more thorough than just T3, T4 and TSH), and he told me to keep things status quo unless I heard otherwise from them. I never heard anything. In the meantime, I saw my PCP and expressed how I was somewhat confused as the the direction of my treatment. I was under the impression that it was determined to be Graves’ for sure, then RAI would be next. Not continuing on the Tapazol when I was only feeling progressively worse. (Next)
