well, have you gone to your endo? It could be as simple as maybe lowering your synthroid dose or needing the RAI but im sure surger would be recommended…Hope you get the answeres our looking for. There are great people on here with good accurate information…
Hi, Lana:
About four years ago (after being on replacement hormone for four years or so), I went hyper again. My endo adjusted my dose of replacement hormone down. That lasted for about three months, and then the dose was raised again back to where it had been. I’ve been steady ever since at that same dose.
So, it is possible to have occasional glitches without it meaning that you have to go through a whole new treatment process.
Good luck, and I hope you are feeling much better soon.
I was diagnosed with GD approx. 16 years ago. I took PTU for awhile, had all the eye surgeries and went into remission. I had another bout and choose to have RAI. I went hypo quick and had felt great taking synthroid for the past 9 years. Now I am testing hyper again. I am so afraid of living that horrible nightmare again. (Anxious, onry, tired, the muscle pain etc..) Has anyone else had this happen? I didn’t know that I could go hyper again after the RAI. My muscles are so tired and weak. My heart rate has been around 90. The first go around it was 120 resting.(Don’t want to go through that again) Can I have RAI again or will I need Surgery?
I have been to my endo and she has been lowering my dose. She just didn’t mention that this could be temporary Thanks for your reply. It’s comforting to know that it could just be a little glitch and I could be back to "normal" in a few months.
I am new also. I am going in for the Radioactive iodine treatment on Thursday. My doctor said it’s best just to "kill the thing" and get it over with. Anyone who has had the treatment, do you gain weight after the treatment is complete.
With Grave’s I am thin, of course and don’t want to gain a bunch of weight. I would appreciate any comments. Thanks.bn605 – good luck for Thursday! I gained about 10 lbs in the first year after RAI, that was about what I had lost. I had little kids though and didn’t look after myself too much, so I gained 20 lbs more in the 2 years after that. I can’t stress enough, it’s all in your hands. Watching your portions and excersising should keep the weight away, as in any other healthy person.
