I just wanted to pop in and say CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU!!!!!!!
TaraPetit
wow, congratulations This is so exciting…if i were you id be out celebrating for sure….Yeah!!!
15 months since RAI – a long a winding road of ups and downs has finally leveled off.
I switched doctors last month (to an internist), and my new labs came back today. My TSH LEVEL is 1.24 – the highest it has been since RAI. My Dr believes that 50mg of synthroid is the perfect dose for me. YEAH! (on Dec 2 my level was at .093)
I do feel better! My hair isn’t falling out anymore and my skin isn’t as dry. I don’t feel my heart flutter in my chest, and I can actually walk down the driveway to the mailbox without being out of breath. And the best thing is….I don’t have to be stuck in the arm with a needle for at least 6 months!!!!!!!!
I almost cried when I heard her say "your labs are perfectly, absolutely normal. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU."
I asked her if she would write it down and fax it to me, or email me so I could frame that and hang it on the wall…she said she would!!!
The only thing that has her baffled is the fact that I’ve had diarrhea since Nov 21 – Yep – almost 2 months! She did lab on a sample, and says everything is good – nothing to indicate a major problem. She said it could be my body readjusting to "normal" after being in overdrive for so long. She believes it will get better soon. Does anyone else have this problem?I can’t wait until I’m there! I had the RAI 3 weeks ago. I have some healing time ahead of me – but thanks for the encouragement and hope! ” title=”Wink” />
Kilikat – Oh my, I am reminded that I have had to eat so much fiber just to stay semi regular my whole life. No change with Graves. I am now – for the first time in my life – "regular". Maybe it is the diuretic I take for my calcium balance – or maybe it is the flaxseed I am using for my cholesterol. Or just drinking way more fluid since starting the diuretic. But it is of note that it is timed pretty well with about 1-2 weeks post RAI. So I gained weight and stayed constipated with Graves. Go figure!
My other Dr had me on a daily diuretic for almost 2 years – which my new dr thinks might have been hindering my healing. On her advice I stopped the diuretic on Dec 17 (My TSH level at that time was .093). Here we are a few weeks later at 1.24 and feeling great! I had thought I would blow up like a balloon if I quit the lasix, but surprisingly I didn’t. I felt bloated the first couple of days, then it went down.
It could be the diuretic caused the diarrhea – but it hasn’t let up since I stopped taking it, so it’s baffling. I used to be closer to constipated all the time, so this really is NOT as big a problem as it would seem to most people. (LOL) I just keep thinking about how many calories are sliding through without sticking! And I actually have lost a few pounds.
I sure hope my joy doesn’t jinx things. I like the way I feel right now, but I also know it could change again. -
