Hi!!!
I’m just starting my period as of last night. It was cd 32 for me and I’ve always been a little wacky with my period. I was due to get it on day 30 but didn’t until day 32 and i"m in remission for two years now.I do have to say that as far as cycles go, being late or early with your period has nothing to do with anything going on at that time. it’s during your ovulation time that if there is stress can make your period late or early. you are 51 which is an age that might start seeing some menopausal symptoms. This might be the starting of it, you should speak with ObGyn or just GYN about this and get a check up and don’t forget your papsmear and a mammo if you haven’t gone already for it as an annual visit.
My mom is 54(yes she is young) and just about 2 years ago finally went into full menopause and had had symptoms for many years before that.
I know you checked with your endo but i think making sure that gyn knows is important as well.
This month I’m having a lot of trouble with my period.
This time period showed up on CD 18. It’s CD6 and I’m still bleeding pretty heavily. I’ve got a lot of cramping and I’m grouchier than usual and feel lousy in general.
I’ve been charting my periods for nearly a year — a month before I presented with active Graves the same thing happened with my period — Day 18 and I had trouble the entire time I had my period (headachey the entire time and felt lousy in general).
At the end of last month, it was CD 33 — I was heavy for 3 or 4 days and the other 4 days, very light.
I’ve spoken to my endo and he says it’ll straighten out by itself. For the record, I’m 51.
Madame X,
Most likely having a period at CD 18 means you didn’t ovulate, and at age 51 that probably means you’re nearing menopause (perimenopause). This is probably an issue for your Gynecologist, as mamabear suggested. While for most people with hyperthyroidism the cycles will straighten out when thyroid levels are normalized, this may not happen in your case. The mean age of menopause for women in the U.S. is 52.6, with menopause defined as being a year after the last cycle. So at 51 if you are still having regular cycles you are already having them longer than many women do.
