Hi family,
It’s me.. I feel I should change my name to Charlie Brown, because I must be the unluckiest person in the world. I am still in tears and feeling rather hopeless.
I received my answer today……..AGAIN! I was denied disability/SSI. This makes the third time. I don’t have a consistent doctor who can speak up for how sick I am because I can’t AFFORD ONE! I could afford one if I had MEDICARE; If they gave me the help for the surgery, then after a year- two at the most I wouldn’t need DISABILITY!!!

If it wasn’t for my children I would ball up in a corner and try to wither away…. It’s like that seems to be my only alternative. I think I am hyper again, but who knows because I haven’t had my levels checked in over 2mths. I was going to go to the ER, but because of that darn SWINE FLU… the nurses who know I am a regular there told me if I’m not sick- if I was just there for my levels then I should wait because they didn’t want me getting anything and taking it home with me… .

Thanks for listening…I don’t feel any better.. But, I would rather take my anger out on this keyboard then going out somewhere and taking it out on a person

Will you be going in for a hearing with an ALJ? If so, it might help you to go to the Social Security site and looks for "The Rules". These are the guidelines that they use. I have known people to copy these and take them to the doctor that is writing their report. I don’t know if you now have to start all over, but if so, do check the RULES. If you cannot drive due to the glare of the sunlight, then DON’T be driving yourself to a hearing. Have someone take you. It is fairly simple things like that.

Yes, I am going to the hearing. I haven’t sent in anything yet because I don’t meet with my lawyer until June 4th. I will be sure to get a copy of the rules. I am hoping this hearing will work for me and not against me being they will physically see me; and can observe with there own eyes what shape I am in..

Seeing your condition is a good thing, but remember, this is an issue of law. They’ll have no problem telling you that according to "The Rules," you don’t qualify, sorry ma’am. You know that ~ you’ve heard it before, I know ~ but it is SO important to know why you deserve the status you’re seeking, and where that fits within the rules of the system. That’s what they need to see most.

It helps to have your work history for the past ten years and also your medical history of the past ten years. I had down every job I had and when I quit I had notations of why. Like the pain in my legs, not being able to concentrate, anxiety, tiredness and not being able to drive. Have every paper you can get your hands on that tells of your disease and your symptoms.

It is possible to get this. My doctor at the time did not think I was ill enough for disability. That did not matter, as it is the Social Security Doctors that helps to decide. It is very important to have as much documentation as you can get. It is also a good idea to go to Social Service and apply for Medicaid. They can probably help you sooner and may get the ball rolling for you. Good Luck

Hi,

Working with homeless individuals, and applying for SSI benefits with them, I find that for the most part they are denied at least three times, before they go in front of the judge.
In Massachusetts you can find help through the Department of Transitional Assistance,
I have the blue book from Social Security and issues with the Thyroid gland are in there as a definition for disablity.

good luck,
