    HI Elise,

I’ve not had anything like this. However, just wanted to ask when you say its the same spot on your leg is it itcy, red around that area or hard feeling? It may be worthwhile getting it checked out incase (don’t panic but the smallest chance) its a DVT.

let us know how you get on.

    Hi again,

I’m wondering if anyone in this group has experienced intermittent hot spots on their legs – it has been going on for a bit over a week where suddenly it feels like there is a heating pad or something on a particular spot on my leg – it lasts maybe 10 seconds and then disappears, only to come back again a bit later – it can happen when I’m walking, lying down, running – doesn’t seem to matter what I’m doing. I don’t have any other physical pain and it doesn’t exactly hurt, but it does seem odd.
I’ve been on tapazole for about about 7 weeks. Wondering if anyone has dealt with this, if supplements helped, if it’s related to the medication.. any advice appreciated!

    thanks so much!

    Hello Elise,

After searching on Google, I read your post which and have just registered to this site to be able to ask you a question. I hope that you’ll take pity on me and will post a reply.

I’m a 37 year old female and am in great shape. Two days ago I starting having the exact same type of sensation in my leg that you described, i.e. it feels like a heating pad has been applied to my lower right leg, above the ankle but not on the shin bone, and it last about 10 seconds and has been happening about 5-6 times per hour. I’m scared about it and would like to know what you’ve learned about this and whether it’s gone away. Did you seek a physician’s advice? What type of doctor?

I would truly appeciate hearing more about your story. Thank you, very much, in advance. With kind regards, Marguerite

Yes, I’ve noticed a redness in the front of my leg within the past week or so…I have an Endo appt. tomorrow & will address it then to see if he can tell me anything about it.

It is weird that it’s in the same place, but my left lower leg, above the ankle to the left of my shin bone. HHHmmm…

Just got back from Endocrinologist and he took one look at my leg and said that I have pretibial myxedema, part of GD. He said that he wants me to take pictures of it when it flares up so that he can keep track. Apparently, and I haven’t read much on it, it’s more of a necrosis caused by GD?? Anyone here might want to give their input, but it doesn’t sound like a pleasant symptom to have with this disease…ARGH!! He double my meds that he quadrupled last month now…it’s that or surgery for me since I have TED too. Not many options left for me.

I had something like that in January.

I was in a store at the mall and the heat was on ultra-high; evidently the heat malfunctioned and they were not able to shut it down (the employees in there were all clad in shell tops and short sleeves).

I walked out of there, broke out into a sweat and my legs got weird — the best that I can describe it is that it felt like sparks were jumping out of them.

It happened once; it didn’t happen again after that incident.
