Kit – Have you tried imodium? It is safe, over the counter – use as directed, of course – and let your doc know.
I have had more issues with travelers diarrhea or IBS in the last year than before. Two bouts that lasted several weeks. Both times of stress – one after bad water. Yes, it does not add to our feeling of well being at all. I used imodium.
As a teacher – I know the stress is on all of us right now. Let us know how it goes.
Cathy – Thanks for the advice. I do use immodium (my endo is aware of this). I took two immediately following the first "bout", but am still having some "issues". While I’m not a teacher, I do understand the stress that we are all under right now. I’m the security monitor in the elementary school, so my primary function is dealing with custody agreements between divorced parents and their children, visitors to the school, etc. I truly love my job and cannot wait to go back on September 1. Again, thank you so much for your advice. Kit
Kit,
I had issues such as yours but got things under control by taking acidophilus tablets everyday ( I still take these and I like the Nature Made Brand as it has a really large number of bacteria in it. You’ll need to keep it in the fridge. ) and eating one coconut macaroon each day I was having trouble. I learned about the cookies from the People’s Pharmacy. The coconut worked for me. I rarely have any issues now. I buy them from the grocery store ( Archer’s brand in a red package ) but don’t know if you have that in NY. I don’t like immodium since it dries everything out for me. Sorry about your reunion being ruined.ewmb
Hi Kit,
My hubby jokes that in the morning I have one sip of tea and I am off to the toilet. Then at meal times I will take one bite and then have to go to the toilet. Have you been tested for IBS/ Coelics or the like? I did have bad IBS about 5 years for a long time…. I have actually been in shops and had to leave whatever I was ready to pay for and look for the nearest toilet.
I would def speak about it with your endo as it may not all "just" be thyroid realted.

I was supposed to attend a barbeque with some friends from work today. We haven’t seen each other since June 30. We work for the school district in which we live, so we are off for the summer. I was stopped dead in my tracks by a Graves’ Disease "intestinal issue", to put it politely. This disease is so frustrating!! Does anyone on this board have any suggestions for me? This is not the first time this has happened to me. When visiting a new place, most people look for the nearest fire exit. I, however, look for the nearest restroom!! Thanks!
Kit
