I just found the driving directions to the conference!

Go to the Home Page, and scroll down to the picture of the Charlotte Skyline. Click on
Patient Conference ~ Charlotte, NC ~ Oct 16-18
That takes you to a page about the hotel, and over on the right hand side at the top, click on "Directions"

I copied all that down, and then, just to be sure, I called the Concierge (sp) to verify. There was one small omission: It is 14 miles on 485 E to the Exit 61 @ Johnston Road.

That means if you want to do any shopping before you arrive, do it before you embark on the last part of the drive. Most everything is 10-12 miles away.

I googled Earth map and there is a gas station across from the first entrance to the Balantyne. There are a few stores nearby but not many. Also a few restaurants near by. Not much for shopping as far as I can see. You are right Nancy, better to do your shopping else where.
