The GDF hosted a successful community event in Scottsdale, AZ last weekend with about 60 attendees! Thanks to our presenters – Dr. Kristina Rudgear, Dr. Daniel Duick, and Dr. Grant Heinz – for volunteering their time on a Saturday (probably our LAST Saturday of double-digit highs for the next few months) to help educate the community about Graves’ Disease!
The Foundation will be hosting monthly Support Group meetings in Arizona starting on Saturday, June 19th from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. at the Scottsdale Public Library’s Mustang Branch (90th Street, just off Shea Blvd & the 101).
Our featured presenter will be Heather Chapple, who will be speaking on “Living with Chronic Disease: Programs and Resources”. The featured presentation will take place during the first half of the meeting and will be followed by an open discussion period.
The Support Group will provide an open forum to share feelings, concerns, and information – and to receive peer support and encouragement. Meetings are open to patients with Graves’ and other thyroid-related disorders; family members and caregivers are also welcome.
If you are interested in attending – or getting more involved with the Arizona Support Group – please send me a PM or contact me directly via e-mail at phoenix.gdf (at) cox (dot) net.
Thanks!
Woohoo! I’m finally on the GD BB. ” title=”Very Happy” /> I’d just like to say, to anyone in the PHX/TUS area, please, please do come to these meetings. I’m a new "initiate" to GD and TED, but between Kimberly (yay!) and the conference this past weekend, I feel infinitely better about what’s going on.
Huge thanks to the organizers for doing such a great job!
Saumya – Welcome to the boards…glad you finally found us here! And thanks for the plug for our support groups. ” title=”Very Happy” />
If anyone wants to check to see if there is a support group in your area, you can go to the home page and click on “Community” and then “Find a Support Group”. If you haven’t had a chance to connect in person with fellow Graves’ patients, the support groups are a fabulous opportunity to do so!
