Typically the event begins with a reception on Thursday night, we have sessions and meals Friday and Saturday, a banquet Saturday night, then some early sessions Sunday, breaking up after lunch. I am not involved in this year’s planning, but that may help you decide on flights and hotel nights. Factor in your change of time zone, if that applies to you ~ the sessions are really interesting, and I never want to miss a thing, but that means I’m busy all day long both Friday and Saturday. You would want to feel good for that, to get the most you can out of it. Typically there are some people either arriving a little early or staying a little late, so they can see some of the area, and occasionally there are organized events offsite just for entertainment, or casual groups of people connect during the conference and plan something for Sunday afternoon.
I hope that helps!
I hope this will be helpful to everyone who might be planning to attend the San Diego conference in October.
I am getting close to registering, planning flights.
Do meetings begin on the morning of the 22nd?
Does the conference end at the end of the day on the 24th?
Should reservations for the hotel be 10/21, 22, 23, 24?
If it is all day on the 24th, then get a flight on the 25th?
For planning hotel room and flights, could this be clarified?
I tried to reply to Peter, but his site is locked.
Thanks, ShirleyThanks, Ski,
Yes, that certainly is helpful. Do you think that the brochure with this info is on this site anyplace? Just to be sure, before I make the hotel and air reservation? I don’t know if Peter check this site, but if one of your facilitators can contact him so he can provide this info, I think it would be very helpful. From the info you have provided, I suppose there is no reason to think that it will be different this year. I want to it right the first time, though. I do hope there is finite information in the near future. I learned a lot from your post. Like it sounds like the best thing to do is arrive on the 21st in time for the reception and conference material distribution, which i presumes occurs at that time. October seems just around the corner, already!
shirleyHi Shirley – I spoke to Peter on an unrelated issue recently, and he mentioned that the info should be appearing on the web site any day. The dates are definite…the Foundation is just waiting on the folks with the tech skills (which would NOT be me ) to get the information posted on the web site.
Hope this helps!
