Two things are going on — the first is that your dose of methimazole was lowered, the second that you are trying to wean yourself off the beta blocker. I would check with the pharmacist about how quickly — or slowly– you should be weaning from the beta blocker. It may have something to do with how long you’ve been on it, what type of BB it is, etc. But you should keep in mind that the early morning waking, and the elevated pulse rate could be a signal that you might be hyper again. Or at the hyper end of normal.

    Wishing you better health soon,

I have been dealing with Graves since mid july, taking methimazole and Beta blocker.
At the end of august my free T3 and T4 level felt into normal ranges, then dropped too low, but still at the bottom of normal ranges. . Dose was reduced to 5 MMI and I will have next test done in 2 weeks to see where they are now. I had nausea for months, huge hunger attacks that stopped, I had anxiety and nervousness that stopped as well , just recently around 2 weeks ago.
At the end of august I started to have problem with early morning waking up and I am still dealing with this till today . Every day I wake up around 5 o’clock, no matter what time I go to bed, I don’t feel sleepy at all any more . . I don’t have a problem with falling asleep but waking up too early is bothersome . I still have higer heart rate when I wake up 85-95 but always normal low blood pressure (110/70) . I was taking Beta blocker every day ( Atenolol 12 mg which is half of the lowest dose prescribed ) till last week. Recently I am taking it every 3rd day. I am trying to avoid to take it but over 90 heartbeat scares me . I am the only one having difficulties stopping Beta blocker? What is the best way to wean off ?
Did anyone had early waking up problem dealing with graves?
