I have no personal experience with Lugol’s solution, so I went onto the search engine and typed "Lugol’s solution side effects." What I came up with suggested that there can be a burning sensation in the mouth, swelling of salivary glands and gums, a metallic aftertaste. If that’s what you are talking about, your experience may be somewhat normal.

If not, or, perhaps even if it is what you are experiencing, you could check back with the nurse in the surgeon’s office that prescribed it.

I called the pharmacy and they told me thats normal. Its horrible. Now I know why you only take 2 drops of it. Thanks for your help! <img decoding=” title=”Razz” />

I recently wrote a post stating the reasons it is ordered before the surgery. Not sure if this site searches for the word Lugol’s
just in the title of the post, or anywhere in the content.
I had it before my surgery, too. Yep, the symptoms Bobbi listed are not uncommon. I think the metallic taste is universally common. But the good news is that it is for a short period of time, it has a definitive beginning and end, you will never have to take it again, and it contributes to a very safe surgical procedure!
Pretty soon Lugol’s will be history, and you will be on your way to feeling like your normal self again!
