    Hi there,

I am not exactly sure when your doctor will recommend stopping the meds ~ I was never prescribed blood thinners, so that’d be especially interesting to find out, if you don’t mind checking back in to let us know.

Typically it takes at least six weeks for the body to flush out excess thyroid hormone that existed at the time of RAI treatment, so I would presume that you’ll be talking about this with your doctor at your follow up appointment. If you are feeling absolutely horrid at any point between now and then, I would suggest calling the office to let them know how you’re feeling, and to see what can be done before you visit the doctor again.

Glad you’re feeling better, if only just a little so far! <img decoding=” title=”Very Happy” />

I am post rai 3 weeks and so far no problems besides my skin and finger tips peeling for a few days after.
I am still on 30 mg of methimazole and blood thinners and beta blockers. From other’s experience, when will endo take me off the methimazole? Also, approximately when will I be weaned off the beta blockers and blood thinners too? Just wondering if anyone on here can give me an idea from their own experience.

I go back to the Dr at 5 weeks after rai.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. So far post rai has been uneventful which I’m glad about. I have gained 30 lbs since July ( was diagnosed in November and admited to the hospital). I thought the weight gain could be because I quit smoking.
But part of that 30 lb has been since I started meds. I lost 8 lbs (not trying) when I went off the methimazole the week before rai but gained it back after starting it after rai. I haven’t been on a diet but trying to get motivated to start.
Before rai I was having alot of muscle cramps but haven’t had any after. I started a new job a couple weeks ago and haven’t really had time to think about all this graves stuff. Will be glad to get off the methimazole at least.

But like I said, the only thing I had after rai was peeling of my fingers and face.
I will post after Dr visit on the 23rd. Think I’m going to ask him what he thinks about getting blood work done every 2 weeks at that point.

    Have a good night!
