Hi, welcome to this forum! I think you will like it a lot. It is so supportive, and nice to talk with people who have the same experiences you are having.
Take a look back about 8 posts or so, to one called Decompression Surgery: Pre op question to ask. Tuesday, May 10. YOu will see all my answers there (in blue), plus some comments from a following poster (sutan.)
Also, use the search engine on this site, write OD, Surgery, and see what pops up. There is a lot! Put lhc11 in the search box. She had a nice narration of her experience.

Do you know if your post op appt is one week or two? So read some more, write back with more questions!

I am scheduled for decompression surgery on the 18th at Jules Stein with Ray Taban, one of the specialists. Stein is part of UCLA. I live in Ventura, 65 miles away, and see Dr. T thru a hospital in Santa Barbara, which is closer. I have gotten little info from UCLA, which is administratively disorganized- no pre-op instructions or anything. I will call Monday and have these faxed as I did register and sign the consent.

But I would appreciate your wisdom about the aftermath. What are the dos and don’ts? What did you learn from your surgeries? Is there anything I should do prior that they have not told me, since only the doctor talked to me. Anything you tell me will be much appreciated. I insisted on Stein in case anything goes wrong during the surgery, but it does mean I will be 65 miles from help from them as it is same day surgery. I have no local ophthalmologist.
